Formal Wear Basics
Black Tie/Black Tie Required
The host expects tuxedo/dinner jackets to be worn.
Black Tie Preferred
Invited guests unable to buy or rent a tuxedo/dinner jacket may wear a dark suit and tie instead.
Black Tie Optional
Suggests that men wear dinner jackets but do not insist on it, coat and tie should be worn.
Creative Black Tie
Defined as a "tuxedo combined with trendy or whimsical items". Most experts suggest limiting the whimsical items to the shirt, bow tie and/or waistcoat or cummerbund.
Tuxedo Tails
Must have white pique shirt, white pique vest, white pique bowtie, white studs & cuff links, & white gloves.
